Belur – Narayan 18 × 24 Inches

The magnificent temples of Belur have long been a source of inspiration for their extraordinary artistic excellence and spiritual significance. Among the countless sculptures that adorn these architectural masterpieces, the divine form of Lord Narayan stands out for its grace, serenity, and intricate detailing. Belur – Narayan was inspired by the timeless beauty of these sacred carvings, where devotion and craftsmanship come together in perfect harmony.

What captivated me most was the incredible attention to detail found in every element of the sculpture. From the ornate jewelry and flowing garments to the delicate expressions and symbolic motifs, each feature reflects the remarkable skill and dedication of the Hoysala artisans. Their ability to transform stone into living expressions of divinity continues to inspire admiration centuries later.

Using watercolor as the medium, I sought to capture both the spiritual presence of Lord Narayan and the rich textures of the original stone carving. The subtle layers of color help emphasize the depth, elegance, and architectural beauty of the sculpture while preserving its timeless character and sacred essence.
